Ancient times. My first round of
columning for the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel came way back in the
eighties. We were a family of five, three daughters, Jan and I living at 1st
and Patterson in Grand Junction.
I was earning a living traveling the
West as a manufacturers representative to the broadcasting industry. Jan
was an itinerant speech therapist for what was then called Hilltop House,
today it’s Hilltop Rehabilitation.
Today all three daughters are
married and living in the Denver area with families of their own. If I had
known life was going to turn out as well as it did my outlook would
certainly have been a wee bit more mellow. Back then their future, college,
marriage and families never entered the mind, I just wondered if they’d ever
get through West Middle School.
Even though these columns, some written
over a quarter of a century ago, are from a time long past, some still are
almost relevant, knowing that relevancy is pretty much borderline when it
comes to the Milieu. |
