Raised in small town Illinois, educated at Iowa State and a resident of
Grand Junction for almost 40 years Dick Maynard has worked as a radio
station owner, disc jockey, time salesman (or spot schlepper if you prefer)
manufacturers rep, ad agency owner and copy writer. Only in retirement has
he been able to find a vocation which suits his talents. The man can do
nothing at an extremely high level.
Married over 40 years to Jan, the Maynard’s have three
daughters residing in the Denver area with their husbands and the five
Maynard grandchildren.
Besides writing a weekly column for the Grand
Junction Daily Sentinel Maynard is also a way below average golfer, a
barely passable skier and a totally inept dancer. What he can do better
than anyone else is sweat and sleep, skills that as of this writing still
suffer from a lack of demand. Should either perspiring or sonambulance
become an Olympic sport look for Maynard to head the USA contingent.
