So You Need a Speaker?

I’ve enjoyed talking to groups in the Rocky Mountains for many years.  The highlight of giving a speech is meeting new folks, people one wouldn’t meet any other way.  Speaking engagements are the closest I can come to the years of radio remotes our stations broadcast from “on location”.  Meeting people who listened to our stations was the really, really fun part of the radio business. 

The fee is $1,000 plus expenses.  The topic?  A friend once said, hopefully with his tongue firmly placed in cheek, “Maynard you can speak on at least a thousand different title’s, you only have one speech but a thousand titles.”  Hopefully that’s not true.  The subject usually depends on the group I’m visiting.  I’ve been privileged to talk with Chamber of Commerce banquets, high school graduations, teacher’s conventions and sales conferences.  What’s most comfortable is talking about the years in radio and writing a newspaper column plus the memories of raising a family in the small town West. 

I book my own speeches.  Just e-mail this website with the name of your group and the date you have in mind.  I’ll check with Jan and see if she has other plans for the same day.  Keep in mind there are so many grandchildren, golf courses and ski hills to visit and so little time.  I do promise I’ll be back to you as fast as possible.  Hopefully your date will work.
